About this scholarship

What you get

You get around 1,150 EUR per year (about £1,000, though some sponsors pay slightly more or less) for the length of your Informatics degree, up to four years. You may also be offered a paid summer work placement between your third and fourth year. When you graduate, the sponsoring company may offer you a job, but you are free to turn it down. The scholarships are funded by companies such as KAL and Bank of America. Two scholarships are on offer, starting in your first year.

Who can apply

  • Degree: You are studying for a Bachelor's degree in Informatics (computer science) at the University of Edinburgh.
  • Where you study: You study at the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom.
  • Grades: You get good results in your first-year university exams.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

First, apply to study Informatics at Edinburgh through UCAS, the UK's central university application system. If your first-year exam results are strong, you are selected automatically and invited to apply. The university then sends your CV and results to the sponsoring company. The company invites you to an interview and writes to tell you its decision.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is narrow: you must already study Informatics at Edinburgh and rank among the top of your first-year exams, so only a small group competes for the two places. If your first-year results are strong, your prospects are solid. The company interview is the real hurdle, since only a handful of students are put forward.
