About this scholarship
Benefit
You will receive 5,000 EUR per academic year to cover living costs and books, paid monthly from October to May. The scholarship covers the entire duration of your Bachelor’s degree and is reviewed annually, meaning it may last for up to 36 months. Upon completion of your degree, the Irish Tax Institute will cover the full cost of the Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) qualification, the professional qualification for tax advisers. You will also be assigned a mentor by the Institute – an experienced adviser who will guide you through the programme.
Eligibility
- Level: You are a student in the Republic of Ireland who is about to complete the ‘Leaving Certificate’ and will soon be starting a bachelor’s degree. Older students who wish to apply for a suitable degree programme are also welcome to apply.
- Grades: You must achieve at least 450 marks in the Leaving Certificate, the final examination, and provide proof of your result at a later date.
- Field of study: You plan to study a relevant subject such as business, law or a related discipline.
- Career goal: You are aiming for a career in tax consultancy and can demonstrate your motivation for this.
- Financial need: You need financial support to be able to afford a university education.
- Nomination: Your school counsellor, headteacher or a teacher will put you forward with a letter of recommendation.
- Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they are studying in the Republic of Ireland.
How to apply
Your guidance counsellor, principal or teacher nominates you. You then return a completed application form by 1 May, with a 300-word profile on why you should receive the scholarship and a recommendation letter. Once you have your Leaving Certificate results and college offer, send proof of your place to the Institute. Shortlisted candidates are interviewed in September.
