Prize of study "Prof.ssa Paola A.E. Frassi"

You receive a one-off prize of 4,000 EUR, paid in a single instalment (minus the taxes required by law). There are 2 prizes in this round. The money comes from the Fondazione Paola A. E. Frassi, and the University of Milan awards it. The prize honours Paola Ada Emanuela Frassi, a professor of industrial law at the university who died in 2009. It rewards the best law thesis in her field.

Who can apply

• Degree: You have completed the single-cycle Master’s degree programme in Law (Laurea Magistrale a ciclo unico in Giurisprudenza) at the University of Milan.
• When you graduated: You must have graduated no more than 1 years before the application deadline.
• On time: You have completed the course within the standard duration, without any delays.
• Thesis topic: Your thesis is on industrial law, in particular copyright, trademarks or patents.
• Not a repeat winner: You have not previously won the relevant student version of this prize in a previous year.
• Nationality: Open to all nationalities. What matters is that you graduate in Milan, not where you come from.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the university’s application form. The application period runs from 22 June 2026 (from 9:00) until 21 August 2026 (12:00). After this date, the form will be closed and you will no longer be able to make any changes. You must upload your final thesis (compulsory), a self-declaration regarding your degree stating your final grade and your examination marks, and, optionally, up to 3 publications on this topic. A panel appointed by the Faculty of Law will select the winners.

How realistic are your chances?

This prize is very narrowly defined. Only recent law graduates from Milan whose final dissertation clearly relates to commercial law – and in particular to copyright, trade mark or patent law – are eligible to enter, meaning that the pool of entrants is small. As 2 prizes are to be awarded, a compelling thesis that is relevant to the subject area stands a real chance of success. The award of the prize depends on the quality and thematic suitability of your thesis; therefore, what counts above all is a thesis with a clear thematic focus and good marks.
