About this grant / loan
Housing grant for students in Aosta Valley
You will receive an annual housing allowance to help you pay your rent or the costs of student accommodation whilst you are studying in the Aosta Valley. The exact amount depends on your family’s income and which of the two schemes you apply for. This is a one-off annual payment from the Autonomous Region of Valle d’Aosta (Regione Autonoma Valle d’Aosta). You can apply for this grant in addition to the region’s study grant (assegno di studio). It is offered again each academic year, and you must reapply every year.
Who can apply
- Where you study: You are enrolled at the University of the Aosta Valley (UniVdA), the region’s recognised conservatoire, or on the Nursing Science degree programme at the University of Turin, based in Aosta.
- Housing costs: You pay for your accommodation, for example rent, subletting or a student hall of residence.
- Income: Your family’s income is below the annual threshold. This is calculated using the Italian ISEE Universitario, an official indicator of a household’s income and assets. In the first round of applications, the upper limit is approximately 27,949 EUR; in the second round, it is 44,000 EUR. You may only apply for one round of applications.
- Progress: You have achieved the minimum number of credits (CFU) by the specified deadline. Your exam marks are irrelevant – the only thing that matters is that you achieve the required number of credits.
- Nationality: Open to all nationalities.
- Field of study: Open to all subjects.
How to apply
Applications must be submitted online via the regional portal. You will need an Italian digital ID (SPID or CIE) and a valid ISEE Universitario certificate. Calls for applications are usually published in October. For 2025/2026, the application deadline is 19 December at 12:00 midday.
How realistic are your chances?
This funding is restricted to a single small region and a handful of local organisations, so the pool of applicants is limited from the outset. If you’re studying in the Aosta Valley, paying for your own accommodation, achieving the required number of credits and staying within the income limit, your chances are good. Make sure you have your ISEE certificate ready well in advance, as it takes one to two weeks to be issued and you cannot apply without it.
