About this grant / loan
What you get
You will receive a one-off emergency grant to enable you to continue your studies following a sudden financial setback. The amount is determined on an individual basis according to your household income. In the first round of 2024/2025, the university paid out 26,300 euros to 9 students, meaning that the grants range from a few hundred to a few thousand euros each. The funding comes from the University of Bari Aldo Moro (UniBA), which has made funds available to help students in serious financial difficulty to continue their studies. You can receive this grant once per academic year.
Who can apply
- University: You are enrolled at the University of Bari Aldo Moro.
- Financial emergency: You can provide evidence of a serious emergency that is jeopardising your studies. Examples of this include: a serious illness or disability affecting you or a family member, the loss of employment by the family’s main breadwinner, or the loss of your household’s sole source of income or sole place of residence. Other serious situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
- Recent event: The event that led to the emergency must have occurred no more than one year before the date of your application.
- No other funding: You are not currently in receipt of any other scholarship, any other university grant or any other working student contract (e.g. an ADISU or university scholarship).
- Field of study: Open to all subjects.
- Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they are enrolled at UniBA.
How to apply
You can apply at any time during the academic year using the university’s application form. A committee reviews applications on three set deadlines: on 28 February, on 30 June and on 31 October. If you received this grant last year, you will be ranked behind first-time applicants in the following year.
How realistic are your chances?
This is a highly targeted form of financial support, available exclusively to UniBA students who can provide evidence of a genuine, recent emergency. The pool of eligible applicants is small, and the fund is limited to just a handful of grants per round. If you clearly meet the hardship criteria, can substantiate these with supporting documents and have no other sources of funding, your prospects are good. First-time applicants are given priority; therefore, please apply as soon as your situation meets the requirements.
