About this scholarship

What you get

If you are studying Industrial Engineering at LIUC, the Università Carlo Cattaneo in Castellanza, Italy, you may be eligible for financial support amounting to several thousand euros per year. This ranges from cash grants to a full waiver of tuition fees. The support is provided in various forms:

  • Income-based and merit-based scholarships funded by public funds from the Lombardy region.
  • Income-based rates with no means test.
  • Grants towards meals and accommodation at the ‘Carlo Pomini’ student hall of residence.
  • Paid student jobs totalling up to 150 hours on campus.

The funding applies for the entire duration of your studies, provided you continue to meet the eligibility criteria. Across all degree programmes, LIUC recently awarded approximately 1,600,000 euros in scholarships and grants within the space of a year.

Who can apply

  • Degree: You are currently studying or enrolling on the Bachelor’s degree programme (3 years) or the Master’s degree programme (2 years) in Industrial Engineering at LIUC in Castellanza, Italy.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
  • Financial need: To be eligible for means-tested grants, you must provide evidence of a low household income. LIUC uses the Italian ISEE indicator; full exemption from tuition fees is available for an ISEE value of up to approximately 26,888 euros.
  • Grades: To be eligible for funding in the first year of study, a school leaving certificate with a grade of at least 70/100 is required. In subsequent years of study, students must have earned a specified number of ECTS credits (academic credits) by a set deadline each year. Some scholarships are awarded solely on the basis of academic achievement, without means testing.
  • Admission: You must pass the TOLC-I, the standard Italian entrance examination for engineering degree programmes. For the English-taught degree programme, a TOEFL score of at least 80/120 or proof of having completed a full academic year of study in English is also required.

How to apply

For means-tested grants, you must submit a valid ISEE certificate together with the accompanying declaration. You must follow the annual call for applications (bando), i.e. the university’s annual notice setting out the rules and the deadline. The Scholarships Office processes the applications. The deadline is 11 October each year.

How realistic are your chances?

These scholarships are tied to a specific university and its degree programmes in industrial engineering, meaning you will only be competing against other LIUC students. With a budget of almost 1.6 million euros and a range of funding opportunities, there is certainly money available. If you clearly meet the income limits or academic requirements and apply by the deadline, your chances are good.
