About this scholarship

What this scholarship covers

At LUM Libera Universita Mediterranea in Casamassima, near Bari in southern Italy, you will be awarded a full tuition waiver for the single-cycle Master's in Law (Laurea Magistrale in Giurisprudenza). You do not pay any tuition fees. The exemption applies for up to 5 years – that is, the standard duration of study – and is renewed each year provided you pass your exams. LUM is a private university. It grants this exemption solely on the basis of academic merit, as determined by a written entrance examination.

Who can apply

  • Degree: You are enrolling on the first year of the single-cycle Master’s degree programme in Law at LUM.
  • School grades: You completed secondary education with a final grade of at least 80/100.
  • Nationality: Open to all nationalities.
  • No other funding: You are not currently receiving any other scholarship, prize or grant that covers your tuition fees. You cannot combine this exemption with other forms of financial support.
  • Keeping it each year: To extend your registration, you must have passed three-quarters of the previous year’s examinations by December, and your average mark must be above 27/30.

How to apply

Please submit the application form to the LUM Student Office (Segreteria Studenti) by 2 October. A few days later, you will sit a written exam: a 60-minute multiple-choice exam comprising four sections (general knowledge, constitutional principles, logic and English), each containing 10 questions. You must answer at least 24 questions correctly to be included in the ranking list, and the candidates with the best results will be granted the exemption.

How realistic are your chances?

Only a handful of special exemptions are granted each year, and everyone sits the same test – so competition is fierce. Your performance in the test is what counts most. If you have good school-leaving qualifications and prepare for the four test sections – particularly English and logic – your chances are good. In the event of a tie, the higher final grade will be the deciding factor, so good school grades give you an extra advantage.
