About this grant / loan
What you get
You will receive a one-time cash payment of up to 3,718 EUR if a sudden crisis puts your studies at the University of Pavia at risk. This is emergency assistance, not a monthly grant. The amount is paid as a one-off payment to help you cope with a serious, temporary emergency. A committee determines the exact amount on a case-by-case basis, depending on your circumstances. In some cases, payment is conditional upon achieving a certain number of ECTS credits. The support is provided by EDiSU Pavia, the regional agency for the right to education, which has allocated a sum of 100,000 EUR for the 2025/2026 round.
Who can apply
- University: You are enrolled at the University of Pavia.
- No other scholarship: You are currently NOT in receipt of a regular EDiSU scholarship (borsa di studio) or a comparable grant.
- Sudden hardship: You are facing a serious, temporary crisis, for example due to a proven serious illness affecting you personally, the death or serious illness of a person in your household, or a sudden loss of income.
- Financial situation: Your family’s income also plays a role. In Italy, this is determined on the basis of the ISEE income statement.
- Field of study: All subjects can apply.
- Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
How to apply
You must apply online via the EDiSU portal by the deadline for the annual call for applications. For the 2025/2026 round, this was on 10 April 2026 at 23:59. A committee reviews each eligible application, determines the amount of funding on a case-by-case basis and draws up a list of funding recipients. A new call for applications is published every academic year.
How realistic are your chances?
This funding is highly targeted. You must be studying in Pavia, must not already be receiving an EDiSU grant, and must provide evidence of a genuine, sudden emergency. As a result, the number of people eligible for funding remains small. If you clearly meet these conditions and can provide thorough documentation of your emergency, your chances are good, especially as the budget was increased during the last funding period. A vague or poorly substantiated application is unlikely to be successful.
