About this scholarship
What the LUM Economics scholarship gives you
LUM University in Casamassima (near Bari, southern Italy) offers a discount on tuition fees for its business degree programmes if you have completed your secondary education with a very good final grade. The amount of the discount depends on your final grade: for example, 20% off the enrolment fee for a top mark of 100/100, 15% for a grade between 95 and 99/100, and 10% for a grade between 90 and 94/100. For a Bachelor’s degree programme with total fees of around 5,500 EUR, this results in savings of around 550 to 1,100 EUR. In the past, LUM has also offered full fee waivers worth up to 12,750 EUR over three years for its “Economia e Organizzazione Aziendale” Bachelor’s degree programme. This amounts to 4,250 EUR per year, although renewal is subject to maintaining good examination results.
Who can apply
- Degree: You are starting a LUM degree programme in the field of economics degree:: the Italian-taught Bachelor’s programme ‘Economia e Organizzazione Aziendale’, the English-taught Bachelor’s programme ‘Business Economics and Organisation’ or the Master’s programme ‘Economia e Management’.
- Where you study: On the LUM campus in Casamassima, near Bari in Apulia, Italy.
- School grades: To qualify for a partial exemption from fees, you must have a final secondary school grade of at least 90/100.
- Full waiver (when offered): You have a recent school-leaving qualification with a grade of at least 80/100 and are enrolling in the first year of a Bachelor’s degree programme. Places on the programme are allocated on the basis of an entrance examination.
- No double funding: You will not receive any further full scholarship to cover your tuition fees.
- Nationality: Open to all nationalities.
How to apply
Applications are made via the LUM Student Office. Partial exemption from fees is granted automatically on the basis of your school leaving certificate upon enrolment. To qualify for a full exemption from fees, you must submit an application form and sit a written multiple-choice test at the university. This test covers reading comprehension, basic maths, logic and English. Places are allocated on the basis of the test results.
How realistic are your chances?
The partial fee waiver is granted almost automatically. If your final mark is 90/100 or higher and you enrol, you will receive it – so you are virtually guaranteed to qualify. Full fee waivers are far less common and are awarded only to a handful of applicants with the best results in the entrance exam. These depend on how well you perform on the day compared to the other applicants.
