About this scholarship

Benefit

You will receive about 5,850 EUR (£5,000) as a contribution towards your tuition fees for a one-year Master’s programme at the University of Birmingham in the UK. The amount will be applied directly to your tuition fees, so you cannot use it to cover living costs. The scholarship applies to both taught and research-based Master’s programmes, and two students receive this funding each year. If your tuition fees exceed the value of the scholarship, you will need to pay the remaining amount yourself. The University of Birmingham runs the programme in partnership with Santander Bank.

Eligibility

  • Degree level: You have received an offer for a one-year full-time Master’s programme (teaching or research-oriented) at the university’s UK campus in Birmingham. Distance-learning programmes do not count.
  • Field of study: Any subject.
  • Nationality: You are from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, the USA or Venezuela. Students from low-income countries on this list will be given priority.
  • Fee status: You pay the tuition fee rate for ‘Auslandstudenten’ (international students).
  • Grades: You hold a bachelor’s degree with a ‘First Class’ classification or an equivalent qualification, which corresponds roughly to a CGPA of 3.6 to 3.8 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  • Excellence: You have demonstrated outstanding achievement, for example in your studies, in sport, in music, in leading a club, in your career or through voluntary work.
  • Own funds: You are able to cover the remaining costs of your studies in the UK, including visa and travel costs.
  • Other funding: You are not currently receiving a full scholarship from any other organisation.
