About this scholarship

What the ARFITEC exchange gives you

You will receive a scholarship of one or two semesters (6 to 12 months) to study engineering in the other country. The grant amounts to approximately 180 EUR. The amounts are set by the two governments and may therefore vary from one round of awards to the next. It is not possible to extend the scholarship. ARFITEC is a joint programme between France and Argentina. On the French side, it is administered by the CDEFI, the Association of French Engineering Schools.

Who can apply

  • Field of study: You’re studying engineering or technology.
  • Where you study: You are enrolled at an engineering college in France or on an accredited engineering degree programme at an Argentine university. This degree programme must be part of an ARFITEC project.
  • Nationality: You are an Argentine student going to France, or a French student going to Argentina.
  • Study progress: If you are from Argentina, you must have completed at least 60% of your degree programme before the exchange begins. If you are from France, you will need enough credits to be able to join the corresponding semester in Argentina.
  • Language: You must have at least level B1 in the language of your host country: French for an exchange from Argentina to France, Spanish for an exchange from France to Argentina. B1 means that you can follow and study in everyday conversations.

How to apply

You do not apply directly to ARFITEC. Once your university’s ARFITEC project has been selected, the university will conduct its own internal selection process to choose the students. Selection is based on your grades, your academic suitability and your personal profile. Please check with your university’s International Relations Office for the current application deadline.

How realistic are your chances?

This is not an open scholarship that can be won by simply filling in a single form. You must already be enrolled at a partner university of engineering that is carrying out an active ARFITEC project, which significantly limits the pool of applicants. If your university is participating in the programme and you meet the requirements regarding credit points and language proficiency (B1), your chances are good, as you will only be competing against fellow students from the same project. Contact your International Office well in advance, as the number of places available is limited.
