About this scholarship

NTU Bursary

You will receive about 870 EUR per year (£750) if you are enrolled as a full-time student at Nottingham Trent University, or half that amount if you are studying part-time. This amount is intended to help with your living costs and is not a loan that you have to repay. It is paid in instalments spread throughout the academic year. Full-time students receive three payments between December and April. You will receive the payment each year that you are eligible, for up to 36 months. One exception: during a one-year paid work placement as part of a dual study programme, the payment is usually suspended. It will resume if the work placement is unpaid or if the remuneration is equal to or below the minimum wage.

Who can apply

  • Where you study: You are enrolled at Nottingham Trent University in the UK.
  • Level of study: You are studying for a bachelor’s degree. This includes a bachelor’s degree, a ‘Foundation Degree’ and shorter higher education qualifications such as the ‘Cert HE’, the ‘HNC’ or the ‘HND’.
  • Field of study: Open to all subjects.
  • Fees: You pay the full tuition fees for your degree programme.
  • Nationality: You are considered a UK home student and receive your funding from the UK government’s student finance agency.
  • Financial need: Your household earns 27,500 GBP or less per year (25,000 GBP if you started before 2023).
  • Student loans: You are entitled to a loan to cover your tuition fees and a loan to cover your living costs from your national student finance organisation.

How to apply

No separate application is required. Your student finance office will forward your details to the university, which will then automatically check whether you meet the eligibility criteria. This will only work if you have consented to your details being passed on. Most students who meet the eligibility criteria will receive a letter of confirmation between September and November.

How realistic are your chances?

You are not competing with other students for this. If you meet the income limit and the loan conditions, you will be granted the loan. Your chances therefore depend solely on whether the criteria – particularly the household income ceiling – are met. Once your application for student finance has been approved and you have consented to your data being shared, the money will be transferred automatically.
