About this scholarship

What the Warwick Fulbright Award gives you

You get your full tuition covered for the first year of a master's or research degree at the University of Warwick. You also get a living allowance of at least about EUR 24,000 (£20,780) over 10 months. On top of that you get a travel grant of about EUR 1,400 (1,500 USD), sickness and accident cover, a 24/7 mental-health hotline, and orientation sessions before you leave and once you arrive. You also join the Fulbright alumni network of over 300,000 members worldwide. The award comes from the US-UK Fulbright Commission together with Warwick, a Russell Group university ranked 60th in the QS World University Rankings 2026. The living allowance is reviewed each year, so your exact figure is confirmed in your grant document after selection.

Who can apply

  • Nationality: You are a US citizen. Dual US-UK citizens can apply too.
  • Where you live: You do not currently live in the UK.
  • Degree so far: You hold a bachelor's degree, or equivalent professional training in a relevant field, before you start.
  • Field of study: Any subject, as long as it is a taught master's or research degree at Warwick. MBA programmes, part-time and distance-learning courses do not count.
  • Level: You do not already hold a PhD at the start of the grant. Medical degrees, internships and residencies are not covered.
  • UK experience: You are ruled out if you spent six months or more in the UK in the year before the grant. An undergraduate study-abroad term is an exception. Applicants without long UK stays are preferred.
  • What they look for: Strong grades or professional excellence, a clear reason for studying at Warwick, and a record of volunteering or extra-curricular activity.

How to apply

You apply online through the Fulbright US Student portal and select "Fulbright University of Warwick Award" as the award name. The deadline is 6 October 2026, 5pm EST for the 2027-28 cycle. You also send a separate admissions application to Warwick, ideally before 13 January 2027. You do not need a Warwick admission offer when you apply. The Fulbright Commission nominates candidates first, and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board gives final approval.

How realistic are your chances?

This is a single award per cycle, so it is genuinely competitive. In the 2026-27 round there were 18 applicants for one place. The field stays small because you must be a US citizen heading to one specific university, so a strong, well-matched application counts for a lot. Show clear reasons for choosing Warwick, back up your grades with real engagement, and submit your Warwick admissions application early.
