About this scholarship
Liese Prokop Scholarship
You will receive 300 EUR per month for up to 24 months as well as a refund of your tuition fees. The scholarship is provided by the Austrian Integration Fund (ÖIF) and is intended to help refugees complete their studies in Austria and find work here. As well as financial support, you’ll take part in a support programme: guided tours and events on Austrian culture and history, voluntary work and networking meetings. Previous tours have included the Belvedere, the UN offices in Vienna and the Jewish Museum.
Who can apply
- Status: You have been granted asylum in Austria (recognised refugee status) or subsidiary protection.
- Studies: You hold a valid certificate of enrolment from an Austrian university or university of applied sciences, or a valid decision on the recognition of a foreign qualification. This also includes preparatory courses or studies not leading to a degree.
- Field of study: Any topic is fine.
- Age: When applying, you are subject to 30.
- No state aid: You do not receive any Austrian state student finance.
- Financial need: You can provide evidence that you need financial support for your studies.
- Grades: You are making good progress with your studies. First-year students are excluded from this.
- Participation: You are willing to take part in the ÖIF’s regular events and activities.
How to apply
Please complete the application form, sign it and email it to the ÖIF, together with your identity document, your registration certificate, your e-card and your asylum decision. For the 2024/25 round, the deadline was 14 July. The ÖIF decides on a case-by-case basis, so please provide clear evidence of your need.
How realistic are your chances?
This grant is aimed at a limited target group: recognised refugees in accordance with 30 who are studying in Austria, do not receive state support and can demonstrate financial need. The group of people eligible for this grant is therefore small. If you clearly meet these criteria and can demonstrate your financial need, your chances are good. There is no legal entitlement to this grant.
