About this scholarship

Residence Grants of the University of Seville

You will receive approximately 800 EUR as a contribution towards your living costs whilst studying away from your home town for one academic year. You must be studying at the University of Seville in Spain and have limited financial resources. The University of Seville awards this grant as part of its own student financial support programme (Ayudas al Estudio). It complements state grants in Spain and offers students on low incomes a fairer chance of completing their studies.

Who can apply

  • Degree level: You are enrolled on an official Bachelor’s (Grado) or Master’s degree programme at the University of Seville.
  • Study mode: You are studying full-time on campus and are taking a full course load throughout the year.
  • Living away from home: Due to the distance, transport links and your timetable, you will need to live away from home for the whole school year.
  • Your funding situation: One of the following applies to you: You have been awarded a government scholarship on academic grounds, but only to cover tuition fees. You have been refused a government scholarship on academic grounds. Or you do not receive any other scholarship or student grant.
  • Financial need: Your household income is below the lower income limit for state benefit (threshold 1), and your assets are below the state limits.
  • Grades: You have achieved at least the minimum number of credit points from the previous year, as specified in the annual call for applications.
  • No double funding: You are not receiving any other grants or subsidies for the same purpose at the same time.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they are studying at the University of Seville.
  • Field of study: Open to all subjects.

How to apply

Applications are accepted every year in March or April. You complete the application form on the University of Seville’s online student portal (Secretaria Virtual) and submit it via the Santander Open Academy form. Applicants are divided into groups based on their financial circumstances and then ranked according to their grades, with preference given to those with better results.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is highly selective. You must be studying at the University of Seville, living away from your home town and falling below a low income threshold, so the pool of eligible applicants is small. If you clearly meet these conditions and can demonstrate financial need, your chances are good. As places within each group are allocated based on academic merit, better results will move you up the list.
