About this grant / loan
Culture en territoires funding (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes)
You get a grant of up to 15,000 EUR, rising to up to 30,000 EUR for touring shows organised from a larger urban area. This is project funding from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region for cultural work in rural areas, not a personal scholarship. The grant covers up to 50% of eligible costs, such as artists' fees, technical costs, cultural mediation (activities that help local people engage with the art) and project planning. The region runs two strands. "Création et patrimoine" supports professional art staged at heritage buildings and remarkable natural sites. "Scène en territoire" supports touring performing-arts shows in rural communities: theatre, dance, music, circus, street arts, puppetry and digital arts. A separate equipment grant covers up to 50% of the cost of new or renewed stage equipment, capped at 15,000 EUR.
Who can apply
- Who you are: You are an organisation, a private owner, a self-employed artist or a public body. Amateur groups cannot apply.
- Where you are based: You are established or resident in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
- Where the project happens: Your project takes place in a rural municipality (INSEE density level 5, 6 or 7) or in a group of municipalities with fewer than 120,000 inhabitants.
- What kind of project: A professional cultural project: either art staged at a heritage or natural site, or a touring performing-arts show. Festivals, commercial or folkloric events, sound-and-light shows and paid masterclasses are not funded.
- Regional artists: For touring shows, at least half of the performances must feature companies or artists from the region.
- Timing: Your project must run between 1 June of one year and 31 August of the next.
How to apply
You apply through the region's online aid portal. The application window runs from 20 August to 20 September 2026. Technical committees review the applications, and elected regional representatives make the final decision.
How realistic are your chances?
This funding is narrowly cut: you must be based in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and run a professional cultural project in a specific rural area, so few applicants qualify. If you clearly meet those conditions and can show strong local partnerships and artistic quality, your prospects are solid. Because the region names concrete selection criteria, a well-anchored project with a real cultural mediation plan stands out over a purely artistic pitch.
