Farmaciebeurs (CVT Fonds) travel grant

You receive up to 3,000 EUR for a research trip abroad that lasts between 2 weeks and 6 months. The grant supports women in pharmacy who are doing a PhD, or finished one recently, at a Dutch university and want to carry out research abroad. This could be fieldwork or a joint project with a foreign university or research institute. The money comes from a bequest by Ms Speleers, a former pharmacist, through the Dr Catharine van Tussenbroek Fund, which has supported women in science since 1926.

Who can apply

• Women only: You are a woman.
• Field: You work in pharmacy.
• Where you are based: You are affiliated with a Dutch university or research institution.
• Career stage: You have started a PhD at a Dutch university, or you finished your PhD no more than 5 years ago. The 5-year limit is extended for long leave due to illness, parenthood, pregnancy or care: 18 months per child, up to 5 extra years in total.
• Not for senior staff: You do not hold a senior position such as associate professor (UHD in Dutch) or higher.
• First time only: You have not received a grant from this fund before.
• Where you go: Your research takes place abroad and is part of a project run at a Dutch university. A pure conference visit does not count.

How to apply

Email a completed application form to the fund's office by 15 February each year. Use form A if you are still doing your PhD, or form B if you have already graduated. Attach two letters of recommendation. If you have a foreign host institution, also attach proof of invitation or admission; you can skip this if you only do fieldwork with no host. Decisions are announced in May.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is narrow. It is only for women in pharmacy who are doing or recently finished a PhD in the Netherlands and plan concrete research abroad. That keeps the eligible group small, so a well-matched applicant with a clear research plan and a confirmed host abroad has good prospects. Since you can only receive it once, apply while your PhD or early-career window is still open.
