About this scholarship

What the GHC Faculty Scholarship gives you

You will receive free virtual access to Grace Hopper Celebration (GHC), the world’s largest conference for women and non-binary people in the tech industry. You will also take part in a year-round programme featuring career workshops, networking events, a community of scholarship holders and mentoring (guidance from an experienced professional in your field). This is not a cash payment. The value corresponds to the full conference registration fee plus the additional programmes. The prize is awarded by AnitaB.org, the charity that organises the GHC.

Who can apply

  • Who you are: You are a woman or a non-binary person.
  • Your role: You teach at a college or university. Your position is irrelevant – from assistant lecturer to full professor.
  • Field: You work in the field of IT or engineering.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, including international applicants.
  • Where you work: Every university in every country.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via the online portal. A nomination is not required. As part of the application process, you will be asked to provide proof of your status as a member of the academic community, a CV, and short essays explaining why you wish to take part in the GHC and how you intend to pass on what you have learnt. The application period begins in the spring and usually ends in mid-April.

How realistic are your chances?

The selection criteria are narrow: you must be a female or non-binary teacher in the field of technology. This is a much smaller group than for open scholarships for students. If you clearly fit this profile and write well-targeted essays, your chances are good. The programme is currently closed between application rounds. Please keep an eye out for when it reopens and apply as soon as it does.
