About this scholarship
University Scholarships at the University of Milan
You will receive a cash grant of about 421 EUR (calculated on an individual basis) for one academic year at the University of Milan, one of Italy’s largest state universities. The scholarship is aimed at students whose family income is too high to qualify for means-tested regional grants, and thus bridges the gap for the middle-income group. You will receive half of the scholarship in advance. You will only receive the second half once you have earned the required credits by the following summer. If you do not achieve this, you will have to repay the amount you have already received.
Who can apply
- University: You are enrolled at the University of Milan.
- Study level: You are in the first year of a Bachelor’s, Master’s or integrated degree programme. Students in later semesters may also apply.
- Field of study: Open to all subjects.
- Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
- Income: Your family’s income exceeds the upper limit for means-tested regional grants. This support is aimed at the middle income group, not the lowest.
How to apply
Applications must be submitted via the university’s online helpdesk between 10 July and 30 September. Please register on the UniMi portal first. Applicants will then be ranked, and this ranking will be used to decide who receives the scholarship.
How realistic are your chances?
This scholarship is aimed exclusively at students at a specific university whose financial need is just above the threshold for means-tested funding. Around a thousand of these scholarships are awarded each year, so a suitable applicant stands a good chance of being successful. As a first-year student, you should plan to achieve the required credit points, as payment of the second half of the scholarship is conditional upon you meeting these requirements.
