About this scholarship

What you get

The Lutz E. Adolf Foundation for the Highly Gifted (LEA Foundation) supports specific projects in the fields of art, culture and science. It supports specific initiatives: for example, taking part in a public competition, organising one’s own concert or producing a CD in the field of music, as well as publishing a scientific paper in other specialist areas. The Foundation is a charitable organisation that was established in 1997 and is based in Germany. There is no fixed amount or fixed duration; each application for funding is assessed on a case-by-case basis. Please note that you will not receive any funds to cover living costs and that this is not a traditional monthly scholarship.

Who can apply

  • Age: You are between 16 and 27 years old.
  • Gifted: You are highly gifted intellectually or artistically. You can demonstrate this by means of an assessment report from a recognised expert or an institution of national standing.
  • Financial need: You are unable to fund the project yourself. The foundation will assess your income, as well as the income of all persons who are legally obliged to support you, on the basis of the German standard rates (Standard Rates Regulation under SGB XII).
  • Your project: You have a specific project in the fields of art, culture or science, such as a competition, a concert, a recording or a publication. Music projects are particularly welcome.
  • Nationality: All nationalities can apply.

How to apply

You should submit your application directly to the foundation. There is no legal entitlement to funding; the foundation therefore decides on a case-by-case basis.
