What the Drever Trust MSc Scholarship covers

You will receive your UK-level tuition fee paid in full for one academic year on the Master’s programme in ‘Psychological Research’ at the University of Edinburgh. The amount will be applied directly to your tuition fees, so you will never handle the money yourself. If you are paying international tuition fees, the scholarship will nevertheless only cover the UK rate, and you will need to pay the difference yourself. Only one scholarship will be awarded. The scholarship is funded by the Drever Trust through the School of Philosophy, Psychology & Language Sciences at the University of Edinburgh. As a scholarship holder, you will be part of the postgraduate community and will present your work to other students and staff throughout the year.

Who can apply

• Programme: You have been offered a place on the Master’s programme in ‘Psychological Research’ (MSc) or on the research-oriented Master’s programme in ‘Psychology’ (MSc by Research).
• University: You are studying at the University of Edinburgh in the School of Philosophy, Psychology and Linguistics.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. International students are responsible for paying the difference between the tuition fees for UK and international students.
• Grades: The award is granted solely on the basis of academic achievement; therefore, good results are the most important factor.

How to apply

Applications are made via the University of Edinburgh’s scholarship system. For the 2026–2027 academic year, the application deadline was 2 June, and all applicants will be notified of the outcome by the end of July 2026.

How realistic are your chances?

Only one scholarship is awarded, covering just two psychology degree programmes at a university. Whilst this means the pool of eligible applicants is small, competition within this group is fierce due to there being only one place available. The decision depends solely on academic merit; therefore, your grades and research achievements are the most important factors. If you have a place on one of the two degree programmes and can demonstrate good results, you are a serious contender.
