About this scholarship

English and Comparative Literary Studies Bursary

You get a 2,500 GBP cut in your tuition fees (about 2,950 EUR). It comes off your fees rather than as cash. The Department of English and Comparative Literature at the University of Warwick in England gives out two of these awards each year. If you already have a degree from Warwick, you can add the 10% alumni discount, but the two are then combined into one total rather than added on top of each other.

Who can apply

  • Course: You have applied for and received an offer on a taught Master's (MA) run by the ECLS department, such as English Literature, World Literature, Critical and Cultural Theory, English and Drama or Environmental Humanities.
  • Nationality: Anyone can apply, whether you pay UK (home) fees or international fees.
  • Previous degrees: You must not already hold a Master's or PhD.
  • Fees not yet covered: You can apply as long as another award does not already cover your full tuition, for example the Warwick Taught Masters Scholarship Scheme.

How to apply

First apply to Warwick and secure an offer on an ECLS MA. Then fill in the separate online bursary form on the department's funding page. Every applicant is considered, and results come by email.

How realistic are your chances?

Only two awards go out each year, so it is competitive. But you must already hold an offer for one specific department's Master's courses, which keeps the applicant pool small. If you have an offer on an ECLS programme and no other award covering your full fees, you have a genuine shot. Every eligible applicant is reviewed, so applying costs you little beyond the form.
