About this scholarship

CCCU Grant

You get up to about 690 EUR (£600) per academic year to help with your living and study costs. It is paid in three instalments in November. The grant comes from Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) and is meant for students from low-income households. You receive the full amount if you pay the standard full-time tuition fee of £9,790. If your fees are lower, the grant is reduced in proportion. If you live in university-owned accommodation, half of the grant goes automatically towards your rent.

Who can apply

  • Where you study: You are an undergraduate or PGCE (teacher-training) student at Canterbury Christ Church University.
  • Household income: Your household income is £25,000 a year or less (about 28,700 EUR).
  • Where you live: Your normal home is in England.
  • Tuition fees: Your yearly fees are more than £6,525 (full-time) or more than £4,895 (part-time).
  • Income check consent: You agree that the Student Loans Company can share your household income details with the university.
  • Other funding: You do not already get £5,000 or more per year in government education support, such as the NHS Learning Support Fund or Department for Education bursaries. Student Loans Company maintenance grants and loans do not count.

How to apply

There is no separate application. The grant is awarded automatically if you meet the criteria. When you fill in your Student Finance England application, just agree to share your household income so the university can check whether you qualify.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is not a competition. If you tick every box, you get it automatically, so there is no selection to worry about. The main hurdles are the £25,000 household income limit and living in England while studying at CCCU. If those apply to you and you give the income-sharing consent, you can count on the money.
