About this scholarship

Alumni Scholarship (University of Dundee)

If you already studied at the University of Dundee, you get a discount on your first-year tuition fees when you come back for a new degree: about EUR 3,500 (£3,000) for international students, or about EUR 1,750 (£1,500) for students from the UK and the Republic of Ireland. It covers one year and comes straight off your tuition bill, so you do not receive cash. If you already paid your fees before the award is applied, you get the money back within three weeks of enrolling. The University runs this to reward former students who return.

Who can apply

  • Your link to Dundee: You graduated from the University of Dundee (bachelor's or taught master's), or you spent at least one semester there as a study-abroad or exchange student. English pre-sessional courses do not count.
  • Degree level: You are starting a bachelor's, a taught master's, or the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice. PhDs do not qualify.
  • Study form: Full time and on campus. Part-time, distance and short professional (CPD) courses do not qualify.
  • Fees: Your programme fee is at least £8,500 for undergraduate study or £10,850 for taught postgraduate study.
  • Start date: You begin in September 2026 or January 2027. Only your first year is funded.
  • Nationality: Open to applicants from any country and any fee status.
  • Funding: You cannot get this if someone else pays your full tuition, unless a separate arrangement is agreed.

How to apply

There is no separate form. The scholarship is awarded automatically when the admissions team sees from your study application that you qualify. If it is not applied automatically, you fill in the University's online enquiry form and show proof of your earlier studies, such as your degree certificate or old student ID.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is not a contest for a few places. If you are a former Dundee student returning full time for an eligible degree and your fees meet the minimum, you simply receive it. The main thing that can go wrong is a records mismatch, such as a name change or misspelling, so keep your details consistent and be ready to prove your earlier enrolment. For anyone who clearly fits, your chances are very high.
