International Human Rights Law Scholarship Fund

You will receive a grant of partial grant of about 2,900 EUR towards the tuition fees for the MSt programme in ‘International Human Rights Law’ at Oxford. This is a two-year part-time Master’s programme that combines online study with summer terms in Oxford. The grant is intended as a top-up and therefore does not cover the full cost of your studies. The exact amount varies each year, as the fund is financed by donations from alumni of the programme. Each year, one or more new students receive funding.

Who can apply

• Degree: You are a new applicant for the MSt programme in ‘International Human Rights Law’ at the University of Oxford.
• Background: You may be a lawyer or work in the field of human rights without having a legal qualification. Both are possible.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. There are no geographical restrictions.
• Commitment: You can demonstrate a genuine commitment to human rights, for example through your work as a young professional or a mid-career specialist.

How to apply

There is no separate scholarship application form. You will automatically be considered if you submit your course application by the January deadline. Scholarship recipients will be selected by the end of March. If you have not heard back by then, you have not been selected.

How realistic are your chances?

Each year, only one or a few scholarships are awarded, and the amount of funding depends on how much the graduates donate. Places are therefore limited and the value of the scholarships varies. On the positive side, however, no separate application is required and every applicant who submits their application by the deadline will be considered – so you have nothing to lose. Think of it more as a helpful financial top-up rather than a reliable way to fund your entire degree.
