About this scholarship
Anglo Danish Society Awards
You will receive a one-off grant of 2,900 EUR (£2,500) to fund a year of study or research as part of a postgraduate programme in another country. The amount will be paid in two instalments from the start of the year. It is intended to supplement your other sources of funding and does not cover your full costs. The grant is awarded by the Anglo-Danish Society, which promotes academic relations between Denmark and the UK.
Who can apply
- Degree level: You are undertaking postgraduate studies or conducting research leading to a higher academic qualification, such as a Master’s or a PhD.
- Where you go: If you’re Danish, you study in the UK. If you’re British, you study in Denmark.
- Your background: You hold a first degree from a university or university of applied sciences in your home country (Denmark or the United Kingdom).
- Timing: You have already started your postgraduate studies or research, or you are certain that you will be able to start them in the coming academic year.
- Field of study: Any subject. To date, prizes have been awarded in the fields of music, architecture, engineering, medicine, the visual arts and international relations.
- Bonus points: Your chances of success will be greater if your project promotes educational links between Denmark and the UK, contributes to cultural exchange between the two countries, is relevant to current issues in one of the two countries, or if you clearly explain why you have chosen this university.
How to apply
Please apply by 1 March using the online form on the Society’s website. You must also submit a financial plan for your academic year and two signed letters of reference in English. Please do not include any further documents, as additional documents may result in your application being rejected.
How realistic are your chances?
This funding scheme is narrowly defined: only Danish and British graduates who are moving between the two countries to undertake postgraduate study are eligible to apply; consequently, the pool of eligible applicants is small. If you clearly meet these criteria and present a convincing case for your project – particularly one that establishes a genuine link between the two countries – your chances are good. A well-reasoned choice of university and a realistic financial plan carry more weight than a polished CV.
