The Greek Bursary at UCL

For a three-year Bachelor’s degree programme, you will receive about 40,250 EUR per year (£35,000), provided you continue to make satisfactory academic progress. You may use the money towards tuition fees, living costs, or both. For degree programmes lasting longer than three years, the payment will be spread over the additional period. The scholarship is awarded by University College London (UCL) and is aimed at students from Greece who are unable to fund their studies in the UK from their own resources. One scholarship is available for the 2026/27 academic year.

Who can apply

• Level: You are applying for a full-time Bachelor’s degree programme at UCL for 2026/27.
• Where you study: You’re studying at UCL in London.
• Field of study: Any bachelor’s degree subject is suitable.
• Nationality and residence: You are a Greek national, live in Greece and pay the tuition fees applicable to international students (not those for students from the UK).
• Financial need: You come from a low-income household. UCL uses a household income of around £42,875 or less as a guideline, but will still consider your application even if your income is slightly higher than this.
• Status: You have not yet started your degree at UCL. You must be a new applicant, not a current student.

How to apply

First, submit your application for admission to UCL and have your fee status confirmed. You should then apply for the scholarship via UCL’s ‘Portico’ online portal by 5 BST on Monday, 27 at the latest. April 2026. Selection is based solely on financial need. If you are shortlisted, you will be asked to provide proof of income by mid-May 2026; successful applicants will be notified by early June 2026.

How realistic are your chances?

Only one scholarship is awarded, so this is a single, highly competitive place. However, the eligibility criteria are strict: you must be resident in Greece, have ‘international student’ status and be able to provide evidence of a low income. As a result, the pool of applicants is smaller than for an open scholarship. If you clearly meet these conditions and can demonstrate genuine financial hardship, you stand a good chance. Apply for admission well in advance so that your status as an ‘international student’ is confirmed before the deadline.
