About this scholarship

What you get

Depending on your marks, you will receive cut in your tuition fees of 25%, 50%, 75% or the full amount. Tuition fees currently amount to 20 EUR per ECTS credit per month (academic years 2025/2026 and 2026/2027), so a full waiver means you will study without paying any tuition fees. The Catholic Faculty of Law in Lisbon (Faculdade de Direito da Universidade Católica Portuguesa) awards the scholarship, which is funded by law firms and other partner organisations. You will receive it for your first year of study and will continue to receive it thereafter, provided your grades remain high enough.

Who can apply

  • Your course: You are studying or are just starting your Bachelor’s degree in Law (Licenciatura em Direito) at the Católica Lisbon School of Law.
  • Entry grade (first year): The amount of your discount depends on your entry level, which is measured on a scale from 0 to 200. 165 points result in 25%, 170 results in 50%, 175 results in 75%, and 180 or more lead to a full exemption.
  • Grades in later years: To retain the award, you need a sufficiently high average from the previous year on a scale from 0 to 20. 15 results in 25%, 15.5 results in 50%, 16 results in 75%, and 17 or higher leads to a full exemption.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

Applications are made as part of the Faculty of Law’s standard admissions procedure for the Bachelor’s degree programme in Law. The application deadline is 30 September. A separate application for the scholarship is not required: it is awarded automatically on the basis of your marks and renewed each year, provided you achieve the required average mark.
