About this scholarship
What the Erasmus internship grant gives you
You will receive a monthly Erasmus+ grant of around 500 EUR for a work placement in another European country. The work placement lasts between 2 and 12 months. The exact monthly amount depends on which country you are travelling to. You will not be required to pay any fees to the company or organisation where you are undertaking your placement. Your university will also recognise the placement with ECTS credits on your Diploma Supplement. ECTS are the European standard credits that count towards your degree. The grant is funded by the EU’s Erasmus+ programme and administered by the International Office (GMCI) of the Instituto Politécnico de Viana do Castelo (IPVC) in Portugal.
Who can apply
- Where you study: You are a student or graduate of the IPVC in Viana do Castelo, Portugal.
- Level: You are currently studying for a Bachelor’s (Licenciatura) or Master’s degree, or you completed such a degree in your final year.
- Field of study: Any topic is fine.
- Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
- Where you go: You are undertaking an internship at a company or organisation in another European country, not the country in which you are studying.
- Finding a placement: As a rule, you find and propose the host organisation yourself. IPVC also publishes internship vacancies on its international portal.
How to apply
First, please register in advance online via the IPVC Mobility Portal using your student login. The deadline is 31 July. The scholarships are awarded in the order in which students submit confirmation of their placement from their host organisation; it is therefore important to secure an internship place as early as possible. The final selection is made by your university’s Erasmus co-ordinator.
How realistic are your chances?
This scholarship is open exclusively to students and graduates of the IPVC, meaning that you are not competing on a national level, but only within a single institution. Places are allocated in the order in which acceptance letters are received. It is therefore particularly important to find a host organisation early on and secure their confirmation. If you are enrolled at the IPVC and secure an internship place in good time, your chances are very good.
