About this grant / loan

Feeding scholarship (Bolsa de Alimentação)

You will receive meal vouchers ("senhas de alimentação") worth about EUR 196 for subsidised lunches at the University of Madeira in Funchal. The vouchers are valid for one semester and are issued as a one-off payment for this period; they are not paid out as a monthly cash allowance. The programme is run by ‘Académica da Madeira’, the University of Madeira’s student union, in collaboration with the university’s social services department (SASUMa). It is funded by donations and the student union’s own income.

Who can apply

  • University: You are studying at the University of Madeira on a bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral programme, or on a vocational technical programme (CTeSP).
  • Enrolment: You are enrolled for the academic year for which you applied, and your tuition fees have been paid in full.
  • Financial need: Applicants with the lowest income per family member are given priority in accordance with national regulations on student grants.
  • Field of study: All subjects can apply.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they are studying at the University of Madeira.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via a form on the Santander Open Academy platform. The application deadline is 27 March (23:59, GMT+1). SASUMa and Académica da Madeira will draw up a ranking of eligible applicants based on income per family member and will notify you of the decision by email.
