About this grant / loan

What PASEP gives you

With PASEP, you can earn a stipend at the University of Coimbra by carrying out supervised part-time work on campus. In return for your working hours, you will receive one of three types of remuneration, depending on the role: meal vouchers for the university’s canteens, a full or partial contribution to your rent in a student hall of residence, or a full or partial reduction of your tuition fee. The tasks are straightforward and student-friendly, such as supervising study rooms, assisting with research projects, or helping with laboratory or administrative work. During the semester, you will work a maximum of 12 hours per week and 4 hours per day; during the holidays, up to 24 hours per week, with an upper limit of 400 hours per academic year. Your lecture times are always protected, and the role will be noted in your Diploma Supplement. The programme is run by the University of Coimbra’s Social Services (SASUC) to help students facing financial difficulties to continue their studies.

Who can apply

  • University: You are enrolled at the University of Coimbra, regardless of your degree programme (Bachelor’s, Master’s, integrated Master’s or PhD).

  • Grades: In the past academic year, you passed at least 50% of the ECTS credits you were enrolled on, or earned at least 36 ECTS credits. You may be exempted from this rule if you have changed degree programmes for the first time or if you were unable to study due to a serious, documented illness.
  • Field of study: All subjects are open.
  • Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
  • Activity fit: You meet all the additional requirements specified for the selected activity, such as prior knowledge or skills.

How to apply

Take a look at the available places on the SASUC website and apply via the PASEP portal using your Inforestudante login details. There is no fixed annual application deadline. Each programme has its own application window lasting at least one week. SASUC and the relevant faculty draw up a ranking of applicants and give priority to those with the greatest financial need.
