What you get

You get a full waiver of your annual tuition fee (propina) as a new student at CESPU, a private group of health-science colleges in northern Portugal. Depending on your course, the yearly tuition runs from about 4,100 EUR to over 12,000 EUR, so the award is worth that much for the year it covers. It covers your first year as a full waiver. There is nothing to repay, and the award is based on your grades, not on your income, so there is no means test.

Who can apply

• Degree: You are starting a bachelor's (licenciatura) or integrated master's (mestrado integrado) at CESPU.
• Field of study: Open to CESPU's health-science courses, for example dentistry, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, nursing, physiotherapy, psychology and nutrition.
• Admission route: You are admitted in the first phase of CESPU's own admission process (Concurso Institucional). If you enrol in a later phase, you cannot get the award.
• Grades: Your admission average is at least 16 out of 20 (not rounded), and you are the top-scoring new student in your course.
• School qualification: You hold a Portuguese secondary-school diploma or a recognised foreign equivalent with the required entrance exams. If you are admitted under Portugal's international-student statute (Decreto-Lei n.º 36/2014), you use a different admission route and cannot get this award.

How to apply

You do not apply for the award separately. You apply to CESPU through the online platform inforestudante.cespu.pt. For 2026/27, the first-phase window runs from 14 July to 10 August 2026. The award goes automatically to the top-scoring new student in each course and is handed over at the welcome event for new students.
