UFV predoctoral research contract (Contratos IPF)

You get a paid full-time contract to work on your PhD at the Universidad Francisco de Vitoria (UFV) in Madrid. The salary is 18,908 EUR gross per year in years 1 and 2, rising to 19,869 EUR gross per year in years 3 and 4. The contract runs for one year at a time and renews each year, up to four years in total. You are registered with the Spanish social security system, and your doctoral tuition at UFV is waived (you pay only the enrolment fee). You may also teach at UFV, up to 60 hours a year and 180 hours over the four years. The contract ends automatically once you defend your thesis, even if the four years are not up.

Who can apply

• Degree level: You have finished the studies that give access to a PhD (a Bachelor plus Master or equivalent).
• Grades: Your weighted grade average is at least 7.5 (on a 0-10 scale) in Humanities, Social Sciences and Law, or at least 6.5 in Experimental, Technical and Health subjects.
• UFV backing: You already have a place in a UFV research project or group. Your thesis supervisor confirms this in writing, signed off by the dean or department head.
• Field of study: All fields are open.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply. There is no age limit.
• Interview: You are willing to attend an interview if the committee asks for one.

Send your application documents by email to the UFV research office by 18 October 2026. The evaluation committee reviews all applications and may invite you to an interview before the final decision.

How realistic are your chances?

This contract is narrow: you already need a UFV supervisor and a place in a UFV research project or group before you apply. That sharply limits who can enter. If you have that backing and meet the grade threshold for your subject, your prospects are good, because much of the competition falls away at the supervisor stage. Having previously sought external funding counts in your favour.
