What you get

You get a flat grant of 2,000 EUR for a one-month research stay in Spain and/or Portugal. You may split it into two separate periods between 1 February and 31 December 2026. The money supports concrete research: field work, consulting sources and archives, building a project, or writing a habilitation, book or joint article. The grant comes from the School of Advanced Hispanic and Iberian Studies (EHEHI) at the Casa de Velázquez in Madrid, a French public research institution. Note that accommodation is not included, because the building is under renovation.

Who can apply

• Who you are: You are a tenured teacher-researcher in French higher education, meaning a permanent lecturer or professor. It especially suits lecturers starting or finishing their habilitation (the qualification to supervise doctoral research) and professors building international projects.
• Field of study: You work in the humanities or social sciences. Your work fits one of the EHEHI's four themes: cities and conflicts; circulation, migration and networks; heritage and rewriting; and creativity.
• Your project: Your project must offer a real chance to work with the Casa de Velázquez, the EHEHI, the Académie de France à Madrid, or the Madrid Institute for Advanced Study (MIAS), a research centre run by the Casa de Velázquez and the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
• Where you go: Your stay takes place in Spain and/or Portugal.

How to apply

Send your application by email as a single PDF by 10 December 2025. It should include a short project outline, a description of your planned activities, a use-of-funds plan and a CV. Experts judge applications on their scientific quality and interest. You get the result by email by 22 December 2025.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is cut narrowly: you must be a tenured French teacher-researcher in the humanities or social sciences, with a project that fits the EHEHI's themes and links to the Casa de Velázquez or MIAS. That keeps the eligible pool small. If you clearly meet those conditions and present a strong, focused project with a genuine collaboration angle, your prospects are good.
