About this scholarship

UK Postgraduate Alumni Scholarship

You get 20% off your tuition fees for a postgraduate on-campus master's degree at the University of Bedfordshire. The discount is a direct cut to your fees, not a cash payment. For research degrees (MRes, MPhil, PhD), the 20% reduction applies to your first year only. The university offers it to former students returning for postgraduate study, and it is valid for the 2025/26 academic year.

Who can apply

  • Former student: You finished a bachelor's honours degree at the University of Bedfordshire, the University of Luton (its predecessor), or De Montfort University's Bedford campus.
  • Course you study now: You are starting or returning to a postgraduate on-campus master's degree (full-time or part-time), or the first year of a research degree.
  • Grades for master's: You have at least a 2:2 in your undergraduate degree.
  • Grades for PhD/MPhil: You have at least a 2:1 in your undergraduate degree, or a master's in a relevant subject.
  • No debts: You owe the university no outstanding fees.
  • Proof if you graduated before 2005: You may need to show evidence that you qualify.
  • Excluded courses: Teacher training (PGCE), Social Work master's, Nursing master's and professional qualifying courses do not count, as they have their own funding.

How to apply

Apply for your postgraduate course through the university's online portal, linked on each course page. For most master's courses there is no separate scholarship deadline, but apply at least 30 days before your course starts. The admissions team checks your eligibility automatically, and the discount is applied when you enrol.

How realistic are your chances?

This is not a competitive award. It is an automatic fee discount for everyone who fits the rules, not a limited number of places. If you graduated from one of the three named universities, meet the grade requirement, enrol on an eligible course and have no debts to the university, you get the 20% cut. The main thing that could rule you out is choosing one of the excluded courses.
