About this scholarship

What the family scholarship gives

You get money to help with your studies or training in Denmark. The amount is not published and is decided case by case. Because the fund is tax-approved under Danish law, payments up to 5,000 DKK (about 670 EUR) are tax-free. The fund can also cover travel, recreation stays, and visits with relatives. Dr Johs. Brandt-Jørgensen set it up to support descendants of his own family.

Who can apply

  • Family line: You must be a descendant of the founder’s grandparents, either on the Jørgensen side (from Assens and Viborg) or on the Brandt side (from Nyborg and Svendborg). This is the key requirement.
  • Proof of descent: You can provide evidence of your family relationship, for example by submitting a copy of your birth certificate and a family tree.
  • Where you study: You are studying or undertaking vocational training in Denmark.
  • Field of study: Any topic is fine.
  • Nationality: Applicants of any nationality may apply, provided they are members of the founder’s family.

How to apply

You may apply at any time; the annual application deadline is 15 March. The exact application procedure is not published, as the fund is managed privately within the family.
