BSE Scholarships for Master's Degrees

If you enrol on a one-year Master’s programme at the Barcelona School of Economics (BSE) in Spain, you will receive a discount of tuition waiver of 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% on your tuition fees. Depending on the funding body, some full scholarships provide a living expenses grant in addition to the discount of 100%. Each year, the BSE awards around 550,000 EUR in merit-based funding, and approximately 24% of enrolled students receive full or partial funding. The degree programmes are offered on a full-time basis from September to July (60 ECTS) and are taught in English on the Ciutadella Campus. There is no separate scholarship application form: awards are made on a merit-based basis and are decided upon on the basis of your admission documents.

Who can apply

• Degree: You hold a bachelor’s degree or will complete your degree before the programme begins in September.
• Programme: You are applying for a BSE Master’s programme in Economics and Finance, specialising in Economic Analysis or Data Science.
• Field of study: Economics, mathematics and engineering are the most suitable subjects. Business studies, physics, computer science and international relations are also accepted.
• Quantitative skills: You have a sound knowledge of mathematics at Bachelor’s level, covering the fields of analysis, linear algebra, statistics and econometrics.
• Grades: You have an excellent academic record. A GRE score (a standardised entrance test for Master’s programmes) is required for the PhD programme and is recommended for the other programmes.
• English: You must provide evidence of your English language proficiency, for example through TOEFL 90+, IELTS Academic 6.5+ or Duolingo 120+. This requirement does not apply if you are a native speaker or have completed your degree in English.
• Nationality: Open to all nationalities.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via the BSE online portal, where you may list up to three degree programmes at the same time. Apply by 15 January to be automatically considered for all available scholarships. Applications submitted after this date will only be considered for any remaining funding. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of your complete application, including your academic results, your personal statement and two references; therefore, there is no need to complete any additional forms.

How realistic are your chances?

BSE is one of the leading business schools, so its degree programmes attract highly qualified applicants from all over the world, and full scholarships including a living allowance are rare. However, as around a quarter of students receive financial support, a partial fee waiver is a realistic prospect if your grades and your performance in mathematics are good. It is particularly important to apply before the January deadline, as after that you will only be competing for the remaining funds.
