Cardiff University Undergraduate International Excellence Scholarship

You get a one-off 10,000 GBP (about 11,600 EUR) taken off your tuition fees in your first year at Cardiff University in Wales. Cardiff University offers nine of these scholarships for students starting a bachelor's degree in autumn 2026. The award is a fee discount only. It is not paid out in cash, it cannot cover a required deposit, and it is not renewed for later years.

Who can apply

• Degree: You are starting a full-time bachelor's degree on the Cardiff campus in autumn 2026 and already hold an offer for it when you apply.
• Fee status: You are classed as an international (overseas) student for fee purposes.
• Field of study: Open to most subjects, but not degrees in Dentistry, Medicine or Healthcare (for example Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Midwifery, Physiotherapy or Radiography).
• Self-funded: You pay your own way. You cannot already hold another scholarship, bursary or fee discount, or receive non-repayable funding billed to the university. Student loans are fine.
• Grades: You meet the published admissions grades for your programme. Strong predicted and final grades count in the selection.
• New student: You are not already enrolled at another university, so no exchange semester.
• Visa funds: You can show enough money for a UK visa without relying only on this scholarship.

How to apply

Once you hold an offer for an eligible programme, Cardiff emails you an invitation to fill in an application form. It includes one short question (max 300 words) on what achievements or evidence show you should get the award. The deadline is 23:59 UK time on 3 April 2026, and late applications are never accepted. Selection is based on your answer, your academic record and your grades.

How realistic are your chances?

With only nine awards open to international applicants across most subjects at a well-known UK university, this is competitive. Your grades and the quality of your 300-word answer are what set you apart, so a specific, evidenced case beats a general one. Make sure you meet your programme's admissions grades and apply well before the April deadline.
