Choreomundus Consortium - Choreomundus Scholarships

What you get

You will receive a monthly scholarship of 1,400 EUR for the entire 24 months of your Master’s programme, which amounts to a total of 33,600 EUR over two years. This funds ‘Choreomundus’, a two-year joint Erasmus Mundus Master’s programme (a programme run jointly by several universities) which explores dance and other movement systems as cultural heritage, including rituals, martial arts, games and physical theatre. There are 15 full scholarships. In addition, a further 15 students will instead receive an exemption from tuition fees. This covers tuition fees of 18,000 EUR for both years, but does not include a monthly stipend. You will study at four European universities in four countries (Lithuania, Greece, France and the UK) and can undertake field research or a work placement in a fifth country.

Who can apply

• Degree: You hold a Bachelor’s degree (180 ECTS) or a Master’s degree (120 ECTS) from a recognised higher education institution. A degree in the humanities or social sciences is most suitable, for example dance studies, anthropology, folklore, cultural heritage studies, theatre studies, musicology, sports science or sociology. Other subject areas (such as health sciences, biomedicine, engineering or computer science) may also be considered if you have a sound knowledge of dance.
• Grades: You have a CGPA of at least 60%, which corresponds to a ‘C’ grade in the EU grading system.
• Dance experience: You can showcase your own practice in dance or a related movement art. To do so, please submit a video clip of no more than three minutes’ duration, along with a two-page essay in which you analyse it.
• English: You have a level B proficiency in English2, for example an IELTS score of 5.5 to 6.5 or a TOEFL iBT score of 87 to 109. This requirement does not apply if you are a native speaker or have completed your degree in English.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the DreamApply portal by 16 February 2026 (extended from 1 February). You must submit your degree certificates, two letters of reference, a CV, the video clip, the essay and a personal statement. Shortlisted applicants will take part in a brief, 10-minute interview via Zoom or Teams. Admission decisions will be announced by the end of March 2026.

How realistic are your chances?

This is a specialised Master’s programme with only 30 funded places, so the pool of applicants is small and the selection process is highly competitive. Your grades, portfolio and personal statement will be taken into account during the selection process. If you are a clear fit for the ‘Dance and Cultural Heritage’ specialisation and can demonstrate this with a compelling video clip and an essay, your chances are good. The most important thing is to prepare your portfolio thoroughly and submit your application before the deadline.
