About this scholarship

What the Frank Wallace Scholarship gives you

You will receive a one-off discount of 5,750 EUR (£5,000) on your tuition fees for a one-year Master’s programme at University of Bath in the United Kingdom, starting in September. This is a one-off payment for one academic year, not a monthly scholarship. Only one scholarship is awarded per academic year. The university awards it in memory of Professor Frank Wallace, a diesel engine researcher who headed the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Bath, to support engineering students.

Who can apply

  • Nationality: You are from the People’s Republic of China.
  • Level: You are starting a face-to-face Master’s programme (MSc), which means you already hold a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Course: You are enrolled on one of two degree programmes: MSc in Automotive Engineering with Business Administration or MSc in Automotive Engineering with Electric Propulsion.
  • Admission: You have already been offered a place on one of these degree programmes and have definitively accepted it (either conditionally or unconditionally).
  • Selection: Selection is based on your academic performance.
  • Gender: Open to all genders.

How to apply

Firstly, you will need to have been offered a place on one of the two relevant Master’s programmes. You should then apply via the University of Bath’s ‘Application Tracker’ and answer three questions. The application deadline is 30 June. The application deadline for the September 2026 intake has already passed.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is very restricted in scope: just one scholarship per intake, exclusively for applicants from China and only for two specific Master’s programmes in automotive engineering at the University of Bath. This keeps the pool of applicants small, but as there is only one place available, competition remains fierce. If you clearly meet these criteria, secure your place and apply early with good grades, your chances are good.
