About this grant / loan

What you get

You will receive a discount on your tuition fees at the University of Glasgow. If you have graduated from the South West University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE) in China and enrol directly onto a Master’s programme, you will receive 10% off your fees. If you first spend a year studying abroad in Glasgow and then go on to do a Master’s degree, the discount increases to 15%. It applies for the entire duration of your studies. The College of Social Sciences in Glasgow offers this discount, and there is no limit on the number of places available.

Who can apply

  • Previous university: You completed your studies at the South West University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE) in China.
  • Fee status: For the purposes of tuition fees, you are considered an international student in Glasgow.
  • New degree: You are enrolling on a full-time Master’s programme at the Faculty of Social Sciences. ‘On-campus’ means that this is a one- to two-year programme based on taught modules rather than a research project. The subjects range from economics and law to business administration and education.
  • Other funding: This offer cannot be combined with other Glasgow discounts or discounts from external sponsors, with the exception of the alumni discount. If you are eligible for more than one discount, only the higher of these will apply.

How realistic are your chances?

This is a fixed discount linked to a specific university in China, and is not a competitive process. There is no quota and no large number of applicants. If you have graduated from SWUFE, pay international tuition fees and enrol on an eligible Master’s programme in Glasgow, you should be eligible for this discount. Please note that this discount only reduces your tuition fees and does not cover living costs. Furthermore, it supersedes all other funding if you would otherwise be eligible for more than one form of funding.
