Erasmus mobility grant at the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar

You will receive a monthly Erasmus grant of approximately 500 EUR to study or undertake a training programme abroad for 2 to 12 months. The exact amount depends on your destination country and is based on the Erasmus+ rates set by the European Commission. The funding is administered by the Office for International Relations at the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar (IPT) in Portugal. You can spend part of your studies at one of around 175 European partner higher education institutions or undertake a work placement at a company, research institute or laboratory abroad. You can also study at partner universities outside Europe.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are enrolled at the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar (IPT).
• Degree level: All levels: short courses, Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD.
• Field of study: Any subject.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• Language: For a posting outside Europe, you will need a level of English equivalent to B2 or higher. B2 means that you can use the language independently. A higher level will be viewed more favourably during the selection process.

How to apply

For work placements outside Europe, please apply by email to the Office for International Relations. Selection is based on your grades (60%), your English language skills (15%) and a personal statement (15%). The Office will inform IPT students of the deadlines throughout the year.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is aimed exclusively at students who are already enrolled at the IPT, so the pool of applicants is limited to this one university. If you are studying there, meet the language requirements and submit a compelling application, your chances are good. As grades carry the most weight, strong academic performance is the most important factor.
