Joussot-Dubien Award

You will receive a one-off grant of 10,000 EUR to cover your living costs whilst studying for your Master’s degree at ENSMAC (formerly ENSCBP). This is a graduate school for chemistry, materials and food sciences within Bordeaux INP in France. The funding applies to a programme lasting between 12 and 24 months, depending on your choice, and commencing in September. It is named after Jacques Joussot-Dubien, a former director of the university.

Who can apply

• Degree so far: You already hold a Bachelor’s degree (or a higher qualification) and are joining the programme in the fourth or fifth year of study.
• Field of study: You have a background in chemistry (physical chemistry, materials science, polymer chemistry or analytical chemistry) or food science.
• Where you study now: You are currently studying in a country outside France.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are eligible to apply, provided they are not French nationals and are not already studying in France.
• Grades: You have an excellent academic record.
• Programme: You are applying for one of the university’s Master’s programmes: MSc Chemistry and Physics (12 months, taught in English) or a Master’s programme in Food Technology (24 months).

How to apply

To start your studies in September, please apply online via the university by 1 May. Your application should include a CV, proof of your current academic progress, your subjects and grades, a letter of recommendation from a lecturer, and a short personal statement.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is very narrowly defined. It applies to just one subject area (Chemistry or Food Science), is aimed exclusively at students residing outside France, and consists of a single prize worth 10,000 EUR. The subject area is small, but the competition is fierce. If you can demonstrate outstanding academic achievement in the relevant discipline and clearly meet the international profile sought by the university, your prospects are good. Apply in good time before the deadline on 1 May and include strong references.
