What the scholarship covers

You will receive a monthly living allowance of approximately 920 EUR (1,000 USD) for a period of 10 months, i.e. the duration of a second-year Master’s programme (Master’s 2) in France. The scholarship also covers your return flights to France, your health insurance and your tuition fees. You can study at any French university, whether public or private. The programme is run jointly by the French Embassy in Venezuela and Fundayacucho, a Venezuelan state-funded foundation that awards scholarships.

Who can apply

• Nationality: You are a Venezuelan citizen.
• Level: You already hold a university degree and would like to complete the second year of a Master’s degree programme (Master 2) in France.
• Who it targets: Working people, university lecturers and researchers.
• Language: You have a command of French or English at DELF B level2, which means you can use the language independently.
• Field of study: The focus is on application-oriented and technical subjects such as engineering, artificial intelligence and robotics, industrial and product design, logistics and supply chain management, energy efficiency and environmental management, agriculture and food, oil and gas, water supply, fisheries, transport, pharmacy and healthcare, urban planning, economics and finance, as well as basic and social sciences.

How to apply

Applications are made via an online form as part of a public call for applications. The call for applications ran for around two weeks recently, starting at the end of January. First, you must submit your degree certificate, academic transcripts, CV and a covering letter. If you pass the shortlisting stage, you must then submit apostilled and translated versions of your documents.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is highly selective. You must be a Venezuelan national, already hold a university degree, have achieved level B2 in French or English, and specialise in one of the technical fields listed. This keeps the pool of applicants small, meaning that professionals or researchers who clearly meet the criteria have good prospects. The call for applications is open for only a short period, so keep an eye out for it and apply as soon as it is published.
