About this scholarship

Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation Film Producer scholarship

You will receive a one-off payment of 35,000 EUR to develop a feature-length film and to set up or run your own production company. Every year, the Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation, which has been supporting young talent in the cultural and media sectors in France since 1990, awards a grant.

Who can apply

  • Your goal: You want to produce a feature-length film. To this end, you set up a production company or take over an existing one.
  • Age: On 31 December of the year in which you are applying, you are 30 years old or younger.
  • Team: Up to three people may submit a joint project as part of a single application. All participants must meet the age requirement.
  • Language: You may be from any country, but you must present your project in French, both in writing and orally.
  • Nationality: Open to all nationalities.
  • Cost: Applying is free.

How to apply

You should submit your complete application online via the Foundation’s website. The deadline of 2026 was 14 June 2026, and the next call for applications will open in spring 2027. If you are shortlisted, you will present your project to the jury in person and in French between September and October. The jury may decide not to award the scholarship in a given year if no project meets its criteria.

How realistic are your chances?

Only one scholarship is awarded each year, and it is aimed at a very specific person: a producer at 30 with a specific feature film project and a clear plan for a production company. Whilst this narrows down the field, the jury – comprising established film professionals – sets the bar high in both artistic and financial terms. The key criteria are a strong, well-developed project and a confident presentation in French.
