International Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship (University of Nottingham)

What you get

You get a one-off 5,000 GBP (about 5,900 EUR) cut in your tuition fee for your first year at the UK campus of the University of Nottingham. The money is not paid in cash. It comes straight off your first-year tuition bill, spread across the payment deadlines. The award covers the first year only and cannot move to later years. There is no separate scholarship application. If you meet the requirements, you get it automatically once you enrol and your grades are confirmed.

Who can apply

• Level: You are starting the first year of a full-time bachelor's degree at the UK campus.
• Degree type: Your course leads to a BA, BSc/MSci, BEng/MEng, LLB, BArch, MMath or MNutr.
• Grades: You have AAA at A-level or the recognised equivalent for your country. This is checked when you are accepted.
• Fee status: You are classed as an international (overseas) fee-paying student.
• Self-funded: You pay your own way. You have no other university scholarship and no sponsorship from a government, company, employer or foundation.
• Excluded courses: Veterinary Medicine and Surgery, Pharmacy, Medicine and Foundation Year courses do not qualify. Students transferring in from Kaplan's Nottingham college or Digital Pathways are also excluded.

How to apply

There is no scholarship form and no scholarship deadline. You apply to your chosen degree, get accepted and enrol. The award is worked out from your academic application, and the 5,000 GBP is deducted from your fees automatically. The only dates that matter are the admission deadlines for your course.

How realistic are your chances?

Because the award is automatic, there is no competition for places. If you hit the AAA grade bar, study an eligible degree and pay your own fees as an international student, you receive it. The grade requirement is the real hurdle, so your chances come down to whether your results reach the AAA equivalent for your country. Check your country's equivalent grades early so you know where you stand.
