What the Performance Support scheme gives you

The University of Dundee supports a number of high-level athletes each year through its Sports Union. There is no fixed cash amount. Instead, the university's Sport Development Manager agrees with you personally what help fits your sport and your goals, so you can keep training and competing while you study. You settle the exact type and level of support in a one-to-one conversation, not as a published figure.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You study, or plan to study, at the University of Dundee.
• Your role in sport: You are a competing athlete, an official or an umpire.
• Level: You compete at regional, national or higher level.
• Sport: Any sport counts.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

Fill in the online form on the Performance Support page and tell the university about your sport. The Sport Development Manager then contacts you to talk through what help Dundee can offer. There is no published deadline. The process runs through this personal conversation rather than a formal selection round.

How realistic are your chances?

This support targets a narrow group: athletes, officials and umpires who already compete at regional level or above and are heading to Dundee. If you clearly meet that level and are joining the university, you are exactly who the scheme is for, so getting a conversation is straightforward. What you end up with is decided case by case, so the stronger your competitive record, the better your prospects.
