About this scholarship
SENER Foundation engineering scholarship
You will receive a full scholarship to undertake a Master’s or PhD programme abroad. There is no fixed monthly amount. The SENER Foundation will cover your tuition fees, provide you with a monthly living allowance – the amount of which depends on the country in which you are studying – and cover your health insurance through a private policy. The scholarship runs for a minimum of one year and up to two years. Alongside your studies, you will spend half your time as an intern at SENER, a Spanish engineering firm, enabling you to gain professional experience whilst you study. The scholarship is provided by the SENER Foundation, which was established in 2002 by the SENER engineering group and the Sendagorta family.
Who can apply
- Qualification: You hold a degree in engineering or a technical subject, with very good grades.
- Timing: You finished your degree no more than four years ago.
- Nationality: You are not Spanish. In the last round, preference was given to applicants from Central and South America (such as Mexico, Peru, Colombia and Chile) and from India.
- Where you study: You would like to study for a Master’s or PhD degree in a country other than your home country.
- Languages: You have a very good command of English, as well as proficiency in the language required for your chosen degree programme.
- Field: Engineering. Preference is given to sectors such as power stations, transport infrastructure, oil refineries, renewable energy, railways, urban public transport and shipbuilding.
- Personal qualities: You’re open to new cultures and can work in mixed technical teams.
How to apply
Applications are made online via the SENER Foundation’s website. You must submit a completed form, a letter of motivation, your CV and a photograph. A selection panel will shortlist the best candidates and invite them to an interview – either in person or by telephone – before a decision is made. In the last round, the application deadline was 31 May.
How realistic are your chances?
This scholarship is very limited: only around five places are available per round, aimed at recent graduates of engineering degree programmes from specific regions and disciplines who also commit to undertaking an internship at SENER. If you clearly meet the requirements for these subject areas and languages, you will be competing against only a handful of other applicants. Please note that the selection process is currently closed and no new round has been announced. You should therefore check whether the application window has reopened before making any plans based on this.
