About this scholarship

The Sievert Larsson Scholarship Fund

You will receive a full tuition fee waiver for a 2-year Master’s programme (4 semesters) at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden. Some scholarships go even further and also provide 230,000 SEK (about 20,000 EUR) towards living costs over the two years, paid out in half-yearly instalments. The scholarship is administered by Chalmers University of Technology in collaboration with the Sievert-Larsson Scholarship Foundation, which has been enabling young people from Thailand to study abroad since 2007.

Who can apply

  • Nationality: You are a Thai national.
  • Where you study: You have been admitted to a Master’s programme at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden, or you are currently applying for a place on the programme.
  • Degree: You have completed a Bachelor’s degree at a prestigious Thai university with a grade point average of at least 3.0, or are about to graduate.
  • Field of study: Any Master’s degree programme except Architecture.
  • Financial need: You cannot afford to study in Sweden on your own. That is a key criterion.
  • Timing: You are starting your first year of study. Current students at Chalmers University are not eligible to apply.

How to apply

First, apply for a Master’s programme via universityadmissions.se. You should then apply for the scholarship separately via the Chalmers scholarship portal, where you will need to provide your application number for the programme. The deadline is 15 January and coincides with the application deadline for the programme. If you are shortlisted, you will later be asked to submit a personal statement and a reference letter. Decisions will be made between mid-March and the end of April.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is very narrowly defined: only Thai nationals with a very good bachelor’s degree, demonstrable financial need and an offer of a place on a master’s programme at Chalmers University of Technology are eligible to apply, meaning that the pool of eligible candidates is small. If you meet these criteria and can demonstrate a genuine financial need, your chances are good. As only a small number of scholarships are awarded each year, a well-reasoned application and the early and complete submission of your documents are crucial.
