Tianjin University discount at the University of Glasgow

You will receive a 20% discount on your international tuition fee if you transfer from Tianjin University in China to the University of Glasgow to complete your engineering degree there. The Faculty of Science and Engineering at the University of Glasgow offers this discount to students transferring as part of the partnership between the two universities in the field of engineering. It applies to the international tuition fees you would otherwise have to pay for your studies in Glasgow.

Who can apply

• Your current university: You are studying at Tianjin University in China.
• Study so far: You have completed 2 or 3 years of a Bachelor’s degree in engineering at Tianjin University.
• Where you continue: You will enrol in the year 3 or 4 (year 3 Honours) of a Bachelor’s degree programme in engineering at the University of Glasgow.
• Fee status: For the purposes of tuition fees, you are considered an international student.
• Field of study: You have a degree from the University of Glasgow in either aeronautical engineering, biomedical engineering or electronics and electrical engineering.
• Combining awards: This discount cannot be combined with other University of Glasgow scholarships or discounts from external sponsors, with the exception of the alumni discount. If you are eligible for multiple discounts, the one with the lower value will be excluded.

How to apply

You do not need to submit a separate application. The University of Glasgow will apply the discount automatically when you enrol. If you are unsure whether you meet the eligibility criteria, please contact the Scholarships Office. How realistic are your chances?

This funding is highly targeted. Only engineering students at Tianjin University who transfer to one of the specified degree programmes in Glasgow at the 3 level are eligible; it is therefore not an open selection process. If you meet the eligibility criteria for the partnership scheme and enrol on an eligible engineering degree programme, you will automatically receive the discount of 20%. Your prospects therefore depend on whether you are accepted onto the programme in Glasgow, and not on whether you win a competition.
